Compassion. Healing. Change.
Welcome! Everyone needs help now and then, and it takes courage to ask for help. You might be looking to uncover the strength and resources you already have within you to meet your needs and deal with challenges in your daily life. Other times, you may need to learn new techniques to manage your stress or anxiety or issues that come up in your life. Sometimes, you may need a compassionate and willing ear to listen to and help work through your experience.
I am here to help you along your journey. I view my role as a companion and a guide to help you uncover your strength, your sense of direction, and helpful thoughts and behaviors. Always, your well-being, meeting your goals, and increasing your felt-sense of mental health is a primary goal of our work together.
Awareness. Discovery. Wellness.
I believe that the best work in therapy takes place within the context of our relationship. A strong therapeutic relationship allows me to be transparent, open, and honest with you about my observations, my thoughts, and my ideas about what may be helpful. A strong relationship also allows you to be open and honest in treatment. When you are open and honest, you bring material to our work that enhances the effectiveness of the skills and techniques I offer.
I use a variety of techniques and perspectives to help you meet your treatment goals. I draw from my training to tailor therapy to meet your individual needs. Although my work is informed by many different psychological theories and practices, I tend to work from a psychodynamic perspective that focuses on self-psychology – understanding what has contributed to making you the person you are today. My perspectives may initiate in depth psychology, yet they are expanded to include cognitive-behavioral techniques, gestalt approaches, and most importantly, client-centered therapy. Clinical hypnosis may also be a technique that is helpful for you. I am here to work with you to identify the techniques, skills, and approaches that are most helpful in achieving your goals.
I see my role as the “holder of space.” In holding space, I am able to allow you to experience your life and your abilities to manage it in whatever way works best for you. I tend to focus on helping you identify your personal values and goals and then assisting you in choosing behaviors that reflect those values. In this way, you become able to live your most authentic life in a way that brings you joy. Your feelings of safety and comfort are of the utmost importance to me. In my office, I believe that I have created an environment to accomplish that very goal. Whether we meet in the office, or by telehealth, I work to help you feel comfortable enough to process things that may be uncomfortable.
